Prince Edward and his wife, Duchess Sophie, are back to their intense royal duties with notable appearances.

The Duke of Edinburgh – who recently earned a new title within the royal family has made a surprise appearance at Stanley Park on Tuesday, September 15th, just one day after the Duchess of Edinburgh travelled to Zambia.

King Charles III's younger brother received a warm welcome on his royal arrival at the historic public place, joining celebrations organised by the staff for the 100th anniversary of Stanley Park in England.

His Royal Highness also unveiled a plaque commemorating Dr William Henry Cocker, Blackpool's first Mayor.

During his rare visit to Stanley Park, Edward also signed Stanley Park’s visitor book to approve the publication with the monarchy seal.

The official Instagram account of the public park released a wholesome video clip of the Duke of Edinburgh, showing him engaging with the officials responsible for the historic public place.

"A very special day in Stanley Park! We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh to Blackpool today as part of our celebrations to mark 100 years of Stanley Park," they noted.  

Notably, the event marked the pre-celebration as Stanley Park officially turned 100 on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026.

Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie's top-secret wedding  

This appearance came after Prince Edward attended a top-secret royal event with his wife, Duchess Sophie, before she embarked on her solo trip to Zambia.

Hello! Magazine reported that the couple quietly attended the nuptials of the Prince's goddaughter, Ella Mountbatten, who is the eldest daughter of Lord Ivar Mountbatten, over the weekend.

How Prince Edward is connected with Ella Mountbatten and Lord Ivar Mountbatten? 

Lord Ivar – who is a second cousin of King Charles III and Prince Edward- announced the engagement of her daughter last year.

The Duke of Edinburgh is also godfather of Ella, while her youngest sister, Alexandra, has Duchess Sophie as her godmother.
