Royal Family has seemingly landed in hot water once again, with King Charles at the center of a damaging new controversy.
The 77-year-old is believed to be regretting that he did not bury the hatchet with his late ex-wife, Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer in 1997, when she died in a tragic car crash in Paris.
In his memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, the ninth Earl of the Spencers recalled a painful conversation with his former brother-in-law – who at the time of Diana’s death told Charles that his sister would be “forgotten soon enough.”
This shocking revelation from Harry and William’s uncle met with a swift response from a Buckingham Palace spokesperson who debunked the claim noting, “While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognize, even many years after such a loss.”
Despite timely reaction from the Royal Family, inside sources are claiming that this new row has sparked King Charles’ new fears.
“Charles knows he’s going to ruffle a few feathers with this book – he already has with just a few pages of serialisation – but he is standing by his claim that his sister would approve of every word" an inside source told New Idea.
They continued, "Doing so gives the book a veneer of authenticity – and a layer of protection – while subtly daring the Royals to sue him over it. They won’t be taking on just him, but also the powerful legacy of his sister too.”
“Already he’s struggling with his popularity as King, but a book quoting him as saying ‘we’ll all forget about Diana’ couldn’t come at a worse time” it added.
“Charles can’t stop what’s coming a week before it’s on every bookstand in the world but he knows it’s not going to be pretty. He and the Earl have had very little to say to each other since THAT funeral speech, but the King is starting to regret not patching things up with the Earl.”
