Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, has reportedly cited a 1994 letter from his rape accuser to the district attorney as he pushes back against a new lawsuit alleging he attempted to sexually assault her.
The Side to Side singer has submitted a 1994 letter from his accuser, Jennifer Hough, as part of his response to a civil lawsuit alleging attempted sexual assault.
In the notarised letter, Hough reportedly said her rape allegations were “half true and half false” and claimed she had dated Petty and voluntarily gone to his home on the day of the alleged assault.
Hough’s lawyer, Marjorie Mesidor, challenged the letter’s validity, saying her client had no involvement in writing or signing it.
“This exact tactic was attempted by Mr. Petty in 1994, and it was widely disregarded by the judge then just as it will be disregarded by the judge now,” Mesidor told The Daily Mail on Thursday.
Mesidor added, “The concept of a 16-year-old minor producing a typewritten recantation without parental consent is highly suspicious on its face - and this is simply not her signature.”
Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in New York in April 1995 in connection with the incident.
In the 1994 letter submitted to the court, Hough reportedly said she hoped to “drop charges” against Petty.
She also said she had known Petty for years before the incident and was on her way to school when he approached her, saying he had “something very important” to discuss privately.
Hough said she ultimately relented because she wanted to leave and was already late for school.
She added that she threw a water bottle at Petty as she left, prompting him to chase her before she fell down a staircase.
To note, Hough filed the civil lawsuit in 2021, alleging that Petty, Nicki Minaj and their associates harassed, intimidated and bribed her to recant her 1994 rape allegations.
She claimed the alleged campaign intensified after Petty was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in California.
