Kim Kardashian opens up about romance break after Kanye West divorce: What happened?

Kim Kardashian has opened up about her romance life in a rare move!

The SKIMS founder seemingly snubbed her relationship with Pete Davidson, as she shared that she spent five years without any romantic prospect after her divorce in order to "heal" from her past.

Talking to The Times, Kim noted, "That felt great. I could focus on my kids and projects that I really wanted to be involved with. I really felt no rush. Like, I really didn't feel empty."

"I felt like I needed my time. I wanted to completely heal and just work on myself. I wasn’t ready to open up. I really wasn’t even thinking about it."

Since the start of the year, Kim, 45, has been romantically linked with F1 driver Lewis Hamilton; her first public romance since her involvement with Pete Davidson in 2021.

Lewis and Kim have made a number of hihg-end outing together, including the Super Bowl, a trip to Japan, and were also spotted at Coachella.

Kim also discussed her single status following her "hard" divorce from Kanye West in an episode of her reality show, The Kardashians, which aired last November.

She admitted, "You get really comfortable being single and the thought of you sharing a bed or your TV shows with someone else becomes less and less appealing because you get set in your ways."

Kim's interview came after Pete opened up about his romance with the reality TV star and the struggles of being in the constant spotlight.

"Look, man, that's a really tough atmosphere if you're not game," he told Variety.

He added, "One of the things I love about Kim and that whole family is they're like, 'This is what we do'. I found that very attractive and mature."

"And I was never subjected to anything I didn't want to be a part of. She was super respectful of all of it, but the craze of that lifestyle — being followed everywhere, having security and looking over your shoulder — for a guy with mental stuff, and at the time drug problems, was a little too much for me."

"But we're cool, and I have a lot of love for her, and I knew what I was getting into."

Kim and the comedian dated for around nine months, between October 2021 and August 2022.

Kanye West divorce

Kim and Kanye tied the knot in 2014, and the reality star filed for divorce in 2021, which was finalised in 2022.

They share four children: North, 13; and Chicago, 8; and sons Saint, 10; and Psalm, 7.

In October 2025, Kim opened up about her divorce with Ye during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

Kim shared that the marriage to Kane got to a point where there was a "lack of stability" that left her feeling unsafe.

Kim said she remembered "just not feeling safe, not even physically just like maybe emotionally or even, you know, financially".
