
A huge explosion hit Iraq’s military base in the south of Baghdad late on Friday, April 19.
According to Reuters, the Official security force of Iraq, Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), has informed that its command post at Kalso military base, about 50km (30 miles) south of Baghdad, was hit by a huge explosion.
Meanwhile two security sources alleged that the explosion resulted from an air strike.
PMF said in a statement, “The blast has caused material damage and injuries,”
In addition to that, it said, “An investigation team immediately arrived at the scene, and the explosion caused material losses and injuries. We will provide you with the details once the preliminary investigation is completed."
News agency’s two sources at a hospital in the nearby city of Hilla claimed that one PMF fighter was killed and six were injured due to an explosion at the base.
However, PMF did not confirm any deaths in its initial statement.
Moreover, US and Israeli officials have denied from their any kind of involvement in the blast.
The Iraq explosion comes a day after Israel hit back at Iran on Thursday.
