TikTok parent comapany ByteDance makes major announcement after US ban

TikTok parent company ByteDance announced that it will not sell the app after a law passed in US senate to ban the platform.

According to BBC, the Chinese company posted, Friday, on its official account on Toutiao, a social media platform ByteDance owns, “ByteDance doesn't have any plans to sell TikTok.”

The company issued its statement in response to an article by a technology website, The Information, alleging that "ByteDance is exploring scenarios for selling TikTok without an algorithm."

In response to this, the company shared the screenshot of the article with the Chinese characters that mean "false rumour" stamp on it.

The Chinese company said, “Foreign media reports of ByteDance selling TikTok are not true.”

Earlier this week, the US passed a law that forces the company ByteDance to sell its most popular video app, TikTok, or be banned in America.

The strong control of the Chinese government on private companies has raised concerns in the US.

Meanwhile, TikTok warned that it will challenge this ‘unconstitutional’ law in court.

Moreover, TikTok has always denied the claims of governmental control of the company.

TikTok head Shou Zi Chew, in a video posted on the platform in which he said, “We are confident, and we will keep fighting for your rights in the courts. The facts and the Constitution are on our side... rest assured, we aren't going anywhere.”
