First Minister of Scotland, Humza Yousaf, is all set to resign from his position rather than facing two no-confidence votes.

As per Sky News, the SNP leader is considering quitting on Monday, April 29, after he decided that he could not survive a no-confidence vote later this week.

After the collapse of Yousaf’s power-sharing agreement with the Scottish Greens, he is now facing two no-confidence votes at Holyrood in the coming days.

Meanwhile, last week, he intended to fight a no-confidence vote as he told the news outlet, “I'm quite confident, very confident in fact, that I'll be able to win that vote of no confidence.”

The Alba Party’s Westminster leader, MP Neale Hanvey, told Sky News that he thinks Yousaf’s “Hand is being forced from within the SNP. It seems that the internal manoeuvrings within the SNP have made it impossible for the First Minister to continue.”

Hanvey furthered, “I don't think he would be even considering resigning if he had the support of his parliamentary group, and I think reading between the lines, that's not something that he can depend on now, and that's possibly why he's been forced to seriously consider resigning."

The SNP got the majority in Holyrood after having a power-sharing agreement with the Greens in 2021.
