A British Army officer got injured after he was attacked near barracks in Kent on Tuesday, July 23.

According to BBC, the uniformed officer who was attacked before 18:00 BST in Sally Port Gardens, Gillingham, near his house, was admitted to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police have arrested a 24-year-old suspected man in attempted murder charges shortly after the incident took place. The police have also seized a number of knives from the scene.

The UK Home Office has indicated that the incident is not related to terrorism, while the authorities believed that the stabbing may have been ‘mental-health-related.’

Acting Chief Supt. Richard Woolley of Kent Police informed, “The motivation for the attack is currently unknown and forms part of our ongoing inquiries, although we are exploring the possibility that it may be mental health-related. We are also investigating any possible links between the location and the suspect."

The newly elected Prime Minister Sir Keir said, "Our thoughts are with him, his family, and our Armed Forces, who serve to keep us safe. We wish him a swift recovery."
