Presumptive Democratic nominee for November’s presidential elections, Kamala Harris, expressed her ‘serious concerns’ over the Gaza war to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the meeting on Thursday, July 25.

According to CNBC News, the US vice president after meeting Netanyahu in Washington said, “It is time for this war to end and end in a way where Israel is secure, all the hostages are released, the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can exercise their right to freedom, dignity, and self-determination.”

Harris, who launched her campaign on Sunday, July 21, after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the election race, asserted that she had a ‘frank’ meeting with the Israeli prime minister and had told him that it’s time to get the ceasefire deal done.

Harris further added, “So to everyone who has been calling for a ceasefire. And to everyone who yearns for peace. I see you, and I hear you... Let’s bring the hostages home. And let’s provide much-needed relief to the Palestinian people.”

However, the White House later briefed that Netanyahu and Harris discussed “(the administration’s) work to ensure Israel can defend itself from threats from Iran and Iranian-backed terrorist groups, including Hamas, Lebanese Hezbollah, and the Houthis, and the importance of combating the rise in antisemitism globally.”
