Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is poised to take on the role of President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

Currently, Jay Shah, who also serves as the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), holds the ACC presidency.

As per Geo News, Shah received a one-year extension to his term in January 2024, extending his tenure as ACC President for a third consecutive term.

The ACC follows a rotation-based policy for its presidency among member countries.

As per this policy, Naqvi is set to succeed Shah and will assume office in January 2025. Naqvi’s term is expected to last for two years.

Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, will continue in his role as PCB Chairman while taking on this new responsibility.

The official confirmation of Naqvi's new role is anticipated to be announced at the next ACC meeting, which is scheduled to take place between October and November.
