The USA men’s gymnastics team won their first Olympic medal in 16 years on Monday, July 29.

According to CBS News, the US gymnastics team won the bronze with a consistent performance from all five team members, led by Frederick Richard, the team of Asher Hong, Paul Juda, Brody Malone, and pommel horse specialist Stephen Nedoroscik.

This is the first American men’s team to win an Olympic medal since the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Meanwhile, Japan won its eighth gold, and China won the silver medal.

USA Gymnastics wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “For the first time since 2008, the U.S. men are taking home hardware in the Olympic Team Competition! Congratulations to Asher, Paul, Brody, Stephen, and Frederick—you are Olympic medalists!"

Nedoroscik was the high scorer of the competition with 14.866 on the pommel horse, followed by 14.833 for Hong on the vault.

The 25-year-old gymnast said after the finals, “It was just the greatest moment of my life, I think... I put that in my head as a positive. Like, I can be the exclamation point."

To note, hours before the men’s gymnastics team final, Nedoroscik took 9.32 seconds and called it a ‘good omen’ on his Instagram.
