Former US President Donald Trump plans to attend the National Association of Black Journalists' annual convention in Chicago on Wednesday, July 31.

In a statement released Monday night, Trump's campaign announced that the Republican presidential nominee will participate in a question-and-answer session focusing on key issues facing the Black community, as per ABC News.

Trump’s campaign has been making efforts to reach beyond his traditional support base.

Earlier this year, he attended the Libertarian Party convention in Washington, where he was met with boos.

The campaign highlighted policies from Trump’s first term that it claims benefited Black Americans.

This outreach comes as President Joe Biden's favourability among Black voters has significantly declined since he took office in 2021.

The race has further shifted with President Biden endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris, who would make history as the first Black woman and the first South Asian American to be elected president if she wins in November.
