King Charles has received an invitation for a historic speech at the U.S. Congress.
On Wednesday, April 1, GB News reported that Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on behalf of bipartisan congressional leadership has sent a formal invitation to the British monarch to deliver an address during his upcoming trip to America for a high-profile State Visit.
If confirmed, the speech would mark a historic moment, as King Charles previously addressed Congress more than four decades ago in 1985 as the then-Prince of Wales.
According to the outlet, Prince William's father is scheduled to speak on April 28, during his visit to Washington DC, and is likely to focus on shared values, global cooperation, and strengthening ties.
The speech would also mark a significant moment for both nations as they celebrate their enduring partnership.
In his letter, Speaker Johnson noted that the bond between the U.K. and the U.S. represents "one of the most consequential partnerships in modern history."
He also expressed that the speech would offer the monarch "a unique opportunity to share your vision for the future of our special relationship and reaffirm our alliance at this pivotal time in history."
Notably, the historic speech would coincide with the milestone 250th independence of America.
