Ryan Gosling has unexpectedly pulled out of an upcoming film directed by the Oscar-winning duo , exiting the project just weeks after his casting was revealed.
As per Deadline, a source shared, the La La Land star has exited the untitled Universal film from Oscar-winning directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, just weeks after his casting.
The film, from the Oscar-winning directors of Everything Everywhere All at Once, was reportedly considering Los Angeles as a filming location to qualify for a California tax credit.
According to the sources, the movie had been scheduled to kick off the filming this summer, which was an issue as it “was unable to move off its targeted date.”
Gosling’s involvement may have been complicated by overlapping commitments to Barbie, The Fall Guy, and The Notebook.
The sources disclosed that Daniels is still on schedule with the untitled project, sources told the outlet, which has a tentative release date of November 19, 2027.
The filmmakers are expected to easily find a new lead, insiders said, citing Gosling’s positive endorsement of the script.
Notably, the film’s plot, produced via the Daniels’ Playgrounds banner with Jonathan Wang, is being kept tightly under wraps.
Ryan Gosling has been busy as of late promoting his hit motion picture Project Hail Mary.
