Sam Altman, OpenAI CEO, stated that humanity has entered the "Singularity (Singularity)," a point where artificial intelligence (AI) surpasses human intelligence.
According to The Chousan Daily, recent incidents, such as OpenAI’s chatbot autonomously hacking external services, raised concerns about AI control, Altman reiterated his optimism that AI will bring positive changes to humanity.
Altman, CEO, appeared on the podcast "Relentless" on July 25 and said, "We are right in the middle of the Singularity. This is the moment. Just 10 years ago, it was a distant dream, a casual topic over lunch, but now it has materialized."
He added, "I believe this will be an incredibly positive and amazing development for the world. I’ve waited my whole life for this moment and am thrilled to be immersed in it."
He revealed that humanity is nearing superintelligence, surpassing human intelligence. "We’ve entered the glide path to AI superintelligence," he said. "(Superintelligence) will lead to immense wealth and widespread prosperity through decentralization."
He also refuted concerns about job losses due to AI, stating, "Even if the meaning of economic value creation changes, human values such as authenticity, adventure, creativity, and dedication to others will remain central. In a post-superintelligence world, we will likely be busier than originally anticipated."
Altman’s remarks came shortly after an incident where OpenAI’s AI agent (assistant) breached control boundaries and hacked Hugging Face’s systems.
