Prince Albert and Princess Charlene have released a new personal statement.
The Monegasque Royal Family took to its official Instagram account on Tuesday, July 28, to share Their Serene Highnesses thoughtful message as the UK, France, and Spain ravage in devastating wildfires.
“As devastating wildfires rage across many parts of the world, including France, Spain, and the United Kingdom, Princess Charlene joins me in sending our heartfelt support to all those affected,” penned Albert.
He continued, “Our thoughts are with the grieving families, those forced to leave their homes, and all the communities mobilized to respond to this ordeal. We commend the remarkable courage of the firefighters, rescue teams, and all those working tirelessly to protect people and preserve threatened areas.”
The Prince of Monaco also stated that these devastating fires are damaging valuable natural habitats and threatening fragile biodiversity.
He added that these blazed are partly the result of the significant effects of climate change and stressed that they demand bold and decisive action, noting that protecting the environment is an urgent responsibility that should bring everyone together.
“In these difficult times, our solidarity extends to everyone affected. H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco,” Albert concluded.
About UK, France, and Spain wildfires
The 2026 wildfires has caused widespread destruction across mainland Europe, forcing around 220,000 people to evacuate in southwest France and another 116,000 in Spain.
As shared by The Independent, the blazes have burnt about 42,000 hectares in southwest France in what is regarded as the country’s largest forest fires since the First World War.
Overall, nearly 98,000 hectares have been scorched in France this year, while Spain has lost around 70,000 hectares to wildfires.
On Monday, July 27, minister for intergovernmental relations Hamish Falconer, told Sky News that the UK government is bracing for wildfires similar to those that have ravaged France and Spain this summer.
The update comes as emergency services prepare for further wildfires as the Britain’s fourth heatwave of the summer looms.
