Michael B. Jordan, who played Erik Killmonger in Black Panther (2018) and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), has broken his silence on David Jonsson being cast as the new Black Panther for the third instalment of the franchise.
At Comic Con 2026, Marvel revealed that Jonsson will portray the adult version of the son of T'Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman.

During the Los Angeles premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Jordan made a surprised appearance to show his support for the superhero film and was asked to share his thoughts on the new casting.
"Oh, I love it. It's amazing! I can't wait, can't wait!” the Sinners actor said excitedly.
Jordan, a long-time Ryan Coogler collaborator, played villain Erik Killmonger in the 2018 film and the 2022 sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It has not been officially announced whether the Swapped actor will reprise his role in the third film.
After Chadwick Boseman died in 2020 at age 43 following a battle with colon cancer, Jordan took to social media to pay tribute to his former co-star and friend.
"One of the last times we spoke, you said we were forever linked, and now the truth of that means more to me than ever," he wrote, adding, "I wish we had more time."
Fans react to David Jonsson's casting as Black Panther
Fans had nothing but praises for the casting choice for Black Panther, as they highlighted Jonsson's resemblance to late actor Chadwick Boseman.
"This is PEAK F--KING CASTING!!," one fan penned on X, alongside side-by-side pictures of Jonsson and Boseman.
Another post read, "David Jonsson is such an incredible actor! Passing the torch or giving him a new role in Wakanda is going to be elite"
"What a casting choice, he's literally T'Challa's son. I think he's going to be more than a worthy successor to Chadwick Boseman," said a third fan.
Notably, Black Panther 3 is set to hit theatres on December 15, 2028.
