Jennie is set to kick off her solo activities once again days after BLACKPINK members received intense scrutiny over the band's 10th anniversary.
On Wednesday, August 19, Jennie's label, OA Entertainment, confirmed that the Mantra singer is gearing up for her comeback, with the release of her new EP by the end of August.
Anticipation for the new release has already been building through her performances at global festivals.
Jennie headlined a number of major festivals this year, including the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York, Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Open'er Festival in Poland, Mad Cool Festival 2026 in Spain, and Summer Sonic Festival 2026 in Japan.
She also ignited excitement with the release of a brand new track titled Less than a Lover, which became the only female solo single released this year to receive gold certification on QQ Music in China.
In South Korea, it also topped M Countdown for two consecutive weeks, once again proving her influence as a solo artist.
BLACKPINK 10th anniversary event with only 40 fans
The thrilling update came after the group and K-pop giant YG Entertainment, the label managing BLACKPINK activities, received backlash over the girl group's 10th anniversary.
Some fans criticised the two-day notice and the event's limited capacity of 40 people.
Applications to the event were also restricted to those with paid fan memberships, from 1 p.m. on Thursday to 10 p.m., which once again highlighted the group's little interaction with their fanbase in recent years.
Moreover, the initial notice did not guarantee that all four members of BLACKPINK would attend, stating that only those available would take part in the event.
However, later it was confirmed that all four members will attend the event.

The label is responsible for the group activities of BLACKPINK; however, all four members, Jisoo, Lisa, Jennie, and Rosé, are all under separate agencies for their individual activities.
Seven years after their debut, all four members ended their contract with the agency in 2023.
Jennie founded her own agency, OA Entertainment; Rosé signed with The Black Label; Lisa and Jisoo also founded their own agency, Lloud and Blissoo, respectively.
