Lionel Richie has once again sparked concern among fans.
The 77-year-old American singer-songwriter has been rushed back to the hospital for the second time this month to undergo a heart procedure, reported PEOPLE on Tuesday, September 22.
According to the update, Richie was admitted to the hospital this week for “heart issues,” and is “currently hospitalized and receiving treatment for atrial fibrillation, an irregular heartbeat.”
It was also shared that his treatment plan includes “AFib ablation,” which is not considered major.
An AFib ablation or Atrial fibrillation ablation is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of an irregular and often very fast heartbeat.
“Lionel underwent a common procedure for Atrial fibrillation (AFib. The doctor said everything went perfectly,” Lionel Richie’s representative told the outlet, adding, “Lionel is doing great but will take some time off and will be back on stage soon.”
The Coming Home hitmaker’s latest health scare comes just days after he publicly appeared for the first time since his hospitalization earlier this month.
Over the weekend, Richie stepped out for a dinner party at Mr Chow in Beverly Hills, where he was joined by his girlfriend, Lisa Parigi.

Prior to his current hospitalization, the Stuck On You crooner was admitted to hospital earlier this month after he struggled through his final song during his St. Louis’ concert.
During his hospital stay, Richie underwent tests for “cardiac-related issues.”

Footage from the final song of his concert at The Muny in Forest Park, obtained by the Daily Mail, showed the singer seemingly struggling to catch his breath as he performed one of his biggest hits, All Night Long.
Closeups appeared to show Richie out of breath as his vocals dropped out beneath the backing singers.
While seated with his guitarist and bassist beside him, he briefly handed them the microphone, but neither sang, leaving the audience to fill in the lyrics as Richie shook his head.
