Hours after sparking a buzz among fans by dropping Easter eggs about an exciting surprise, the Paper Rings hitmaker finally revealed on Tuesday, September 22, that she’s set to bring a new chart-topping song.
Taking to her official Instagram handle, the Grammy winner announced her new single, titled Patient Zero, which is set to release this Friday, September 25, 2026.
“I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single “Patient Zero” will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours,” she captioned.
The post also included a new image of Swift, mesmerizing in a striking backless black dress with high halter neckline as she stared into the camera.
She exuded gorgeousness in smoky eye makeup, while her burnt brick-red shade of lipstick added a perfect touch to her overall look.
On her website, The Fate of Ophelia singer is offering three collector’s edition CDs with double-sided covers, available for 24 hours or while supplies last.
The three options include the standard, acoustic version and piano versions of the track. Each CD features two different images of Swift.

On Monday, September 21, CBS and MTV announced that the 14-time Grammy winner is set to mark a historic new milestone by becoming the first recipient for a brand-new Video Music Awards (VMAs) honor for directorial vision.
According to the announcement, the Cruel Summer hitmaker will be honored with the first-ever MTV VMA Artist Director Award, a brand-new honor which will be awarded to artists who direct some or all of their own music videos.
The networks said that the award is being earmarked for artists “whose work behind the camera has expanded the possibilities of music video and advanced the art of visual storytelling,” and “celebrates a sustained and influential body of work from artists who have pushed creative boundaries and developed a clear directorial voice.”
The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards are set to take place live on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at 7:30-9:30 p.m. ET/ 4:30-6:30 p.n. PT at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California.
