Coroner office unveils Hayden Panettiere's cause of death
Over a month after the Nashville actress' death, the Greenville County Coroner's Office has ruled her cause of death to be the "toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, Alprazolam, Methocarbamol and Quetiapine".
According to the office, there were "no signs of trauma" that contributed to Hayden's death, and the "manner of death has been ruled accident".
Hayden Panettiere dies at 36
Best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, Hayden passed away on Sunday, August 16, at the age of 36 at an apartment complex in Greenville, South Carolina.
Officials were reportedly heard discussing an "overdose" and "cardiac arrest" on a 911 call at the time of her death.
Moreover, a police report also said her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother were at the South Carolina townhouse when the actress was pronounced dead by authorities.
Hayden Panettiere's career
A renowned child actor, Hayden's career kicked off in commercial as a baby, and she went to star in soap opera, One Life to Live, from 1994 to 1997, when she was just five.
She also appeared in the crime drama Law and Order: Special Victims Unit and the animated film A Bug's Life in her earlier years.
Hayden garnered fame after landing roles in Disney's Tiger Cruise (2004), Ice Princess (2005), and Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006).
Other major projects included playing Kirby Reed in the Scream slasher film franchise – she appeared in 2011's Scream 4 and 2023's Scream VI.
Hayden Panettiere on her troubles with addiction
Prior to her death, Hayden opened up about her struggles with addiction in her candid memoir released earlier this year, This Is Me: A Reckoning.
In the book, the actress shared that her team gave her "happy pills", which she believed to be an amphetamine, before interviews and red carpets to help her focus.
She said this habit would "forever change" her world.
While experiencing postpartum depression after welcoming daughter Kaya, now 11, with her former fiancé Wladimir Klitschko, Hayden wrote that she became addicted to alcohol and Klonopin, a central nervous system depressant.
