The youngest monarch of the World, King Oyo, has breathed his last at the age of 34.
On Friday, the Prime Minister of Tooro, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, announced his death, according to The Daily Monitor.
His Majesty was pronounced dead on Thursday, August 27th, after being hospitalised in the United States of America due to his battle with chronic illness.
In his statement, the prime minister urged the Ugandan nation to show unity and strength, while calling the situation a "difficult time."
"It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart. This is an immeasurable loss to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro and the nation of Uganda," he added.
Calvin continued, "I call upon all the people of Tooro to remain united, calm and prayerful during this profoundly difficult time."
Who was King Oyo?
It is pertinent to note that the deceased King was listed in Guinness World Records as the world's youngest reigning monarch, and he ruled over more than two million people.
He was the kingdom's 13th monarch; the kingdom was founded more than 200 years ago.
King Oyo took over the throne at the age of three, after his father's demise, who died at the age of 49, in 1995.
However, his crowning ceremony took place on April 17, 2010, the day after his 18th birthday.
So far, the Prime Minister of Tooro announced that he will be notified about the funeral of late His Majesty.
King Oyo was never married and did not have a publicly recognised wife during his life.
This update came as a shock, as before the Ugandan King, Norway’s oldest reigning monarch, King Harald V also died on the same day at the age of 89.
After his passing, his son, Crown Prince Haakon, has taken over the throne and is set to take an oath to begin his ruling era.
