King Charles III has sent shockwaves accross the internet with unexpected announcement on Prince Harry, Meghan Markle's Royal status.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex - who arrived in the UK on last month with reports confirming it to be their "extended" stay, were declared "private citizen" in the monarch's first official statement since their return to Britain.
As confirmed in an update by Royal correspondent, Rebecca English, Charles has reiterated Harry and Meghan's "non-working" Royal status in a letter to "'senior stakeholders', including the government, military and Lord Lieutenancies, from his Lord Chamberlain."
The statement confirmed that Harry and Meghan are "no longer working members of the Royal Family," adding that, "their position is akin to private citizens", and "their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used."
Now, reacting to the shocking development from King's office, a close friend of the couple has given Royal Family a needed reality check about Harry's status, whether he lives in the UK or not.
Their pal noted that as the monarch's youngest son, Harry could "never be an entirely private citizen".
They continued, "Some people will say, ‘But they’re private citizens.’ Nonsense. Utter nonsense."
"They are two of the most high-profile people in the world," added Harry and Meghan's friend.
"The idea that Harry, who is the King’s son and brother to the future King, could ever live an entirely private life is for the birds," they added.
King Charles’ statement also clarified that "This position, distinct from the State and Royal duties undertaken by the working Royal Family, and with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish, will continue to be fully respected.
