Barack Obama reflects on 25th anniversary of 9/11 in powerful joint statement

Former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama issued a joint statement to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks.

Addressing those who were too young to experience the tragedy firsthand or were born after 2001, the Obamas reflected on the profound shock, heartbreak and uncertainty that gripped the nation on that cloudless morning.

Honoring heroes and sacrifices

Despite the darkness of the day, the message highlights the courage and resolve that emerged in its aftermath.

The former presidential couple honored the first responders who rushed into danger, the brave passengers on Flight 93 who fought back and the military personnel who answered the call to serve in the conflicts that followed.

They extended prayers to the families of those lost on 9/11 and the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in subsequent wars.

A call for unity and hope

Concluding with a message of national solidarity, the Obamas emphasized that America’s greatest strength lies in moving forward together.

They reminded the public that even during its darkest hours, the nation can overcome adversity as long as it remains united as one people.
