Meta’s Muse AI agent has made its way on Mac, as part of the company’s expansion push into consumer-facing AI assistants that can perform tasks across a user’s computer.

The Mac app lets Muse interact with files, messages, calendars, notes and emails via their native apps.

The significant move comes after Muse’s release on mobile devices and the web earlier this month, where the app climbed to the top of the US App Store charts.

How Meta Muse works on Mac?

Similar to Muse on different platforms, the Mac variant provides greater control over the accessibility of information and AI-powered apps.

Meta stated access is opt-in, while the agent will request the user’s approval before carrying out sensitive actions.

The significant release comes amid intensifying competition among the AI agents of leading industry players, which are integrated with a comprehensive suite of cutting-edge features to take actions rather than simply responding to questions.

The trend is affecting software and app businesses, as companies explore ways for AI agents to perform a range of tasks conventionally handled via individual apps.

Currently, Meta is also picking up pace in the ongoing competition with other consumer AI agents, while newer services are also capturing attention for enabling users to engage with AI via text messages.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted the speed of the company’s AI development when announcing the Mac release, saying the team is “shipping fast.”

Users can now access the Muse Mac app via Meta’s official AI website.
