King Frederik and Queen Mary are gearing up to bid farewell to Fredensborg Palace.
On Saturday, September 26, Hello! reported that the Danish King and Queen are set to conclude their summer season with a major lifestyle change.
The Royal Couple, who moved to Chancellery House at Fredensborg Palace four months ago, are preparing to relocate to Frederik’s Palace at Amalienborg in Copenhagen.
Their stay at Amalienborg Palace, which is expected to begin this month, will continue till next year’s spring as per the update.
It is worth mentioning that Amalienborg Palace has served as an official royal residence for more than two centuries after Christiansborg Palace was destroyed by fire in 1794.
Frederik X and Mary’s last public appearance at the palace on May 26 for the monarch’s 58th birthday, for which they were joined by their children, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
During winter, the Danish Royals live at their private residence Frederik VIII’s Palace.
King Frederik and Queen Mary mark historic event
This update comes after King Frederik X and Queen Mary marked a significant royal occasion on Friday, September 25; the unveiling of the monarch’s first official painting since ascending the throne of Denmark.
“The first portrait painting of His Majesty the King after the change of the throne was unveiled Friday night. The portrait reveal took place in connection with the celebration of the Carlsbergfondet's 150th anniversary at Frederiksborg, where the King and Her Majesty the Queen attended,” shared the Royal Family.
They added, ‘The portrait, which was created by visual artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, now hangs in the Knights Hall at Frederiksborg Castle side by side with the portraits of the other regents of the Glücksborg royal family, from Christian 9. and up to this day.”
For those unfamiliar, the Hall of Honour at Frederiksborg is a grand ceremonial room at Frederiksborg Castle, which displays portraits and other artworks connected to Denmark’s monarchy.
