Queen Mary is preparing to welcome some special guests at the palace with King Frederik.
The Danish Royal Family took to their official Instagram handle on Thursday, October 1, to announce that the Royal Couple are set to host a major State Visit in the coming weeks, welcoming Vietnam’s President Tô Lâm and his wife Ngô Phương Ly to Denmark.
In an official statement by Amalienborg Palace, it was stated, “At the invitation of Their Majesties the King and Queen, His Excellency the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tô Lâm, and his spouse, Mrs. Ngô Phương Ly, will pay a state visit to Denmark on 19-21 October 2026.”
The three-day visit, which will take place between October 19 and 21, will coincide with a milestone occasion, as it will mark 55 years of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Vietnam and is also set to shine the spotlight on the longstanding connection between the Danish Royal Family and Vietnam.
While the upcoming state visit will focus on diplomacy, trade and shared areas of interest, it will also put Queen Mary’s sophisticated looks on display, making this the perfect time to revisit the Royal’s most iconic looks from her previously hosted state visits.
Iceland’s State Visit to Denmark (October 8-9, 2024)
Months after becoming the King and Queen, Frederik X and Mary hosted Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir and her husband, Björn Skúlason, in Denmark, marking the Royal Couple’s first-ever incoming State Visit after the monarch’s throne accession in 2024.
To welcome the Icelandic delegation, Queen Mary slipped into an elegant, midnight-blue evening dress that features a fitted, dark sparkling bodice with an asymmetrical, off-the-shoulder neckline, paired with a matching floor-length satin skirt that flows down in cascading, tiered ruffles.
She complemented the ensemble by styling her hair in a neat, low updo, and adorning it with a crown.
Mary also wore statement necklace, drop earrings, and thin bracelets to elevate her look, while a sash decorated with royal medals, stars, and other badges was draped across her shoulder to complete her formal state regalia.
Egypt’s State Visit to Denmark (December 6-7, 2024)
Two months after hosting the Icelandic President and her husband, King Frederik and Queen Mary hosted another grand state visit for Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi in December 2024.
At the State Banquet, the Danish Queen served a glamorous fashion moment, wearing a striking black evening gown with high-neck and long-sleeves, heavily embellished with intricate crystal patterns. The dress also included a floor-length skirt with a subtle side slit.
She paired her look with sheer black tights, wore black pumps, and carried a matching black clutch.
The Queen, who styled her hair in a low bun, decorated her hairstyle with a sparkling pearl and diamond tiara.
