Finland is once again on the the top of the list of world’s happiest countries for the seventh year in a row!
Nordic countries have clinched the top spots in the list of the World's Happiest Countries of 2024, according to a new ‘World Happiness Report.’
For the first time this year, the report has included separate age-group rankings, but these rankings have also discovered some sad facts; in some parts of the world happiness among young people is less, CNN reported.
World’s top 10 happiest countries in 2024
1. Finland
2. Denmark
3. Iceland
4. Sweden
5. Israel
6. Netherlands
7. Norway
8. Luxembourg
9. Switzerland
10. Australia
In North America, young people are less happy than older people, meaning that the US is out of the top 20 for the first time.
Many countries in Eastern Europe have also improved their position and gained happiness.
In this global survey, more than 140 countries were included. The happiness ranking of each country is based on the average life evaluations over three years, this time 2021-2023.
Life evolution in the reports is explained with the help of six key variables that are: GDP per capita, freedom, perception of corruption, social support, generosity and healthy life expectancy.
The partners of the report are the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre, Gallup and an editorial board.
Afghanistan remains the lowest-ranked country for happiness in the world.
United Nations International Day of Happiness is celebrated on March 20.
