Google is recently testing out a new feature on YouTube, allowing some US subscribers of YouTube Premium to utilize an AI assistant for real-time interaction with the videos they're watching.

As reported by The Indian Express, the new AI assistant is designed to answer questions and provide relevant information without interrupting the viewing experience.

It works by analyzing both the video content and the user's query to deliver accurate responses on the fly.

While, not every video on YouTube will have this AI assistant feature available at the moment.

Google is gradually rolling it out, and eligible videos will display an "Ask" button below the player controls.

By clicking on this button, users can type out questions or choose from pre-set prompts for summaries or related content recommendations.

Meanwhile, users who wish to utilize the AI assistant must accept Google's generative AI terms.

Despite this initial requirement, early tests indicate that the AI responses are swift and precise, thereby enhancing the overall viewing experience for users.

However, this experimental feature is currently scheduled to be available only until May 1.

Google intends to assess user interest and gather feedback during this period to determine whether to integrate the feature permanently into the YouTube platform.

Furthermore, Google is emphasizing transparency regarding AI use across its products and services.

YouTube creators are now required to disclose AI-generated content, and Google is introducing AI disclaimer labels for videos covering sensitive topics such as politics or health.
