The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Tuesday that over 569 metric tons of humanitarian assistance have been delivered to Gaza through a temporary floating pier.

However, not all aid has reached warehouses yet.

As per Reuters, aid deliveries began arriving at a pier constructed by the U.S. on Friday amid mounting global pressure on Israel to permit more supplies into the besieged coastal enclave.

The United Nations (U.N.) reported that on Friday, 10 truckloads of food aid, transported by U.N. contractors from the pier site, reached a World Food Programme warehouse in Deir El Balah, Gaza.

However, on Saturday, only five truckloads made it to the warehouse, as 11 others were reportedly emptied by Palestinians during transit through a challenging area.

No aid was received from the pier on Sunday or Monday, according to U.N. officials.

Moreover, aid brought to the pier arrives through a sea route from Cyprus, where it undergoes inspection by Israel before being offloaded.

The operation at the pier is estimated to cost $320 million and involves 1,000 U.S. service members.

Initially, U.S. officials stated that the pier would manage 90 trucks daily, but this number could potentially increase to 150 trucks.

However, the United Nations has stressed that at least 500 trucks daily are necessary for entry into Gaza.

Additionally, the United Nations has raised concerns about a significant fuel shortage in Gaza.

The U.N. agreed to assist in coordinating aid distribution from the floating pier, but has remained adamant that deliveries by land are the best way to combat the crisis.
