Apple has recently introduced an innovative display technology that could revolutionize the landscape for foldable devices.

This new technology includes a self-repairing layer that can fix screen damage automatically without requiring any action from the user.

The patent, titled "Electronic Devices with Flexible Display Cover Layers," unveils Apple's concept for a foldable screen equipped with self-repair capabilities for scratches and dents.

This patent, identified as US patent 11991901, was recently secured by Apple and discovered by Patently Apple.

As per the patent specifications, Apple's concept involves a flexible screen shielded by a unique elastomer material layer, allowing it to bend.

This is complemented by a self-repairing layer that can automatically fill in scratches and dents on the screen.

Furthermore, users can manually trigger the healing process using heat, light, or electric current.

While, diagrams within the patent illustrate the self-healing layer covering either the entire display or just the flexible section.

Apple also outlines a heating layer that can activate during device charging or when initiated by the user to facilitate the healing process.

Although Apple has secured this innovative patent, the timeline for implementing this technology into actual products remains uncertain.

However, speculations suggest that Apple is actively working on various projects, including a new iPhone SE, a foldable phone, and AR glasses.
