Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy arrived in Madrid on Monday for a key meeting with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to sign a security deal.

As per Reuters, under the agreement, Spain will provide Ukraine with €1.13 billion ($1.23 billion) worth of weapons.

King Felipe welcomed Zelenskiy at Barajas airport, highlighting the visit's significance for Spain.

Zelenskiy will later meet with Sanchez, followed by a joint press conference.

According to El Pais, Spain will provide Ukraine with a dozen Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, 19 refurbished German-made Leopard 2A4 tanks, anti-drone gear, and ammunition.

The 19 tanks are in addition to 10 similar tanks already approved by Spain.

However, the 12 missiles do not include complete missile defense systems.

Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles previously announced the commitment to send Patriot missiles, but did not specify the quantity.

Meanwhile, the other weapons will be produced by Spanish companies, including Indra.

Moreover, the government had approved the expenditure for the deal last month, without detailing the specific weapons.

However, spokespersons for the prime minister's office and the Defence Ministry declined to comment on the details.
