Israel's air strike on the displaced Palestinians in Rafah got a nod from the White House on Tuesday, May 28, suggesting the incident had not crossed a ‘red line’ yet.

According to CNN, US President Joe Biden is not altering his policies for Israel after the deadly strike in the southern Gaza city of Rafah.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said, “As a result of this strike on Sunday, I have no policy changes to speak to. It just happened.”

He further added, “The Israelis are going to investigate it. We’re going to be taking great interest in what they find in that investigation. And we’ll see where it goes from there.”

Kirby also stated, “We don’t support, we won’t support, a major ground operation in Rafah, and we’ve again been very consistent on that. And the president said that should that occur, then it might make him have to make different decisions in terms of support. We haven’t seen that happen.”

As per Kirby, Israel has not smashed into Rafah. He noted, “We have not seen them smash into Rafah. We have not seen them go in with large units, large numbers of troops in columns and formations in some sort of coordinated manoeuvre against multiple targets on the ground.”
