Democrat most likely candidate for president, Kamala Harris, has surpassed Republican nominee Donald Trump in recent national polls.

The vice president took the lead in the presidential election campaign after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the re-election bid.

According to Telegraph, Harris has overtaken Trump in the new polls, leading her Republican opponent by a narrow margin of 46% to 45%.

Another survey done by the Morning Consult with voters aged 18 to 34 showed a margin of two percent. 40 percent of the young voters believe that Harris is the right person to lead the country, whereas 38 percent support Trump.

Moreover, a similar margin was seen at the beginning of the week survey by the Reuters/Ipsos poll. Harris and Trump, who tied at 44 percent in the July 15-16 polls, had a neck-to-neck result this time.

The Democratic presumptive candidate led the Republican nominee 44 percent to 42 percent.

In addition to that, 56 percent of the voters agreed with the statement that 59-year-old Harris was ‘mentally sharp and able to deal with challenges, as compared to 49 percent who think the same for 78-year-old Trump.

To note, Biden never overtook Trump during the polls before his withdrawal.
