At least 12 people, including children, died in multiple rocket attacks in Israeli-controlled Golan Heights on Saturday, July 27.

According to CNN, Israel said that it identified ‘approximately 30 projectiles’ crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory.

An Israeli official has blamed Iran-backed Lebanese militant group Hezbollah for the attack and said that the attack has raised fear of a major escalation.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah has ‘firmly denied’ firing rockets in Israeli territory.

Moreover, Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson Daniel Hagari said that among the sites that were hit by the attack included a soccer field where children and teenagers were playing at the time of the attack.

He further added that the football field was hit by a “Falaq 1 Iranian rocket carrying a 50 kg warhead. This is a model that is owned exclusively by Hezbollah, and tonight it caused the deaths of 12 young boys and girls.”

Hegari has also described the barrage as ‘the deadliest attack on Israeli civilians since October 7, 2023’ and warned. “This is a very serious incident, and we will act accordingly.”

Benjiman Netanyahu’s office said in a statement that the prime minister was 'shocked’ by the attack and has said, “I can say that the State of Israel will not be silent about this. We will not put this off the agenda. Hezbollah will pay a heavy price for (the attack) that it has not paid so far.”
