Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday threatened to enter Israel in a bid to help Palestine as Israel continues its offensive on Gaza.

As per Reuters, Erdogan suggested that his country might have to stage an intervention to stop Israel’s relentless attacks in Gaza since October, 2023, much like it did in the past in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Addressing a meeting of his ruling AK Party in Rize, Erdogan said, “We must be very strong so that Israel can't do these ridiculous things to Palestine. Just like we entered Karabakh, just like we entered Libya, we might do similar to them.”

“There is no reason why we cannot do this... We must be strong so that we can take these steps," 70-year-old Erdogan added.

Turkey had earlier sent its military personnel to Libya in 2020 in support of the UN-recognised Government of National Accord of Libya. They also claimed last year that they were using ‘all means’ to support Azerbaijan’s military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh.

It is pertinent to note that Israel has not reacted to Erdogan’s comments yet.
