
A terrifying and heartbreaking incident happened in aviation history on Thursday, June 13 when Air India flight AI171 crashed shortly after taking off with more than 200 people on board.
A plane heading to London had just taken off from Ahmedabad airport when it suddenly lost control and started falling back to the ground.
In a video, the plane is seen slowly going down behind some houses and then there is a huge explosion with fire rising into the sky.
As per the reports, out of the 242 people, only one person miraculously survived.
The crash also killed some people on the ground as the plane hit the hostel building of BJ Medical College and Ahmedabad Civil Hospital.
As per the local officials, altogether, at least 290 people died in the incident.

Fortunately, a student, named Bhoomi Chauhan missed the same flight that crashed, by only 10 minutes because of heavy traffic.
Bhoomi, who lives in Bristol with her husband was in western India for a vacation.
When she reached the airport less than an hour before the flight's departure time, the airline staff did not let her board which ended up saving her life.
"We got very angry with our driver and left the airport in frustration. I was very disappointed," she recalls, as per BBC.
Bhoomi went on to share, "We left the airport and stood at a place to drink tea and after a while, before leaving... we were talking to the travel agent about how to get a refund for the ticket."
She added, "There, I got a call that the plane had gone down. This is totally a miracle for me."
On the other hand, a British citizen named Vishwashkumar Ramesh survived the plane crash with minor injuries.
There were also people from India, Portugal and Canada on the flight.
