
A Chinese PhD student who has been named as “one of the most prolific predators” by the UK police has been sentenced to life in prison.
According to CNN, the serial rapist named Zhenhao Zou was jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years for raping and drugging 10 women in the UK and China.
The 28-year-old was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court on Thursday by Judge Rosina Cottage. As per the UK’s PA Media, she said that Zou would serve 22 years and 227 days in the prison on remand before he was eligible for parole.
‘A risk for an indefinite period’:
The Chinese national drugged and raped three women in London and another seven in China between September 2019 and May 2023.
As per the prosecutors, most of the victims were “unconscious and rendered defenceless” after being drugged.
Zou has also kept a trophy box of women's belongings and documented nine of the rapes after the victims lost consciousness.
Judge Cottage told the convict, “You are a highly manipulative and intelligent young man, but you have no understanding of the meaning of consent. There is a high level of danger because of your distorted thinking. You are a risk for an indefinite period."
Zou was found guilty of 11 counts of rape, one count of false imprisonment, and three counts of voyeurism, along with a number of other offenses imcluding holding extreme pornographic images and the possession of a controlled drug with intent to commit a sexual offence in March.
