An ABC TV station in Sacramento, California was targeted in a drive-by shooting on Friday afternoon just a day after protests over Jimmy Kimmel's suspension.
Police reported that at least three bullets struck the building but no one inside the station was injured.
As per MailUK, officer Anthony Gamble of the Sacramento Police Department said, "We haven't had a lot of attacks on our media partners, and we'd like to keep it that way."
"To those that may have been responsible for this, and I hope you see this, we're not going to stop looking for you. This is unacceptable behaviour. It's not going to be tolerated in Sacramento," he added.
The shooting occurred around 1:30 pm and authorities are still trying to determine whether the attack was random or deliberate with no suspect or motive announced yet.
The shooting comes after a week of controversy over Kimmel's comment about the killing of conservative activities Charlie Kirk in Orem, Utah.
During his Monday night monologue, Kimmel made a joke that angered Conservatives and Republican officials including a FCC Chair Brendan Carr.
Kimmel said the "MAGA gang desperately [is] trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and with everything they can to score political points from it."
Carr responded with a warning, saying “we can do this the easy way or the hard way,” which some Democratic lawmakers are now criticizing as a misuse of power.
As per the outlet, Kimmel told his bosses that he planned to use his next show to clarify his earlier joke and address Trump's supporters.
On Wednesday, September 10, American conservative activist Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University during a Turning Point USA event.
