Jimmy Kimmel's show was pulled off the air after his controversial remark about Charlie Kirk's death.
Since the decision was announced on Wednesday by the ABC network, many of his colleagues have come forward to show their support.
And the internet has been less than kind to the company over the alleged attack on the freedom of speech.
However, it has been revealed that the decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel Live! did not happen due to a single comment; rather, it was an issue that was on the executive table throughout the week.
The show came under the radar on Monday night when Kimmel, during his monologue, discussed Charlie Kirk's murderer and called Trump supporters the "MAGA gang."
On Tuesday's episode, the host did not back down, noting, "Many in MAGA-land are working very hard to capitalise on the murder of Charlie Kirk."
Following that, on Wednesday afternoon, FCC chair Brendan Carr made an appearance on a conservative podcast and threatened to pull ABC affiliate broadcast licences, which prompted Nexstar, the station group that airs the show, to announce the late-night show's suspension.
In the podcast, Carr said that Disney was at risk of losing its local broadcast licences, which ABC took as a "real, serious threat", revealed a source familiar with the situation to CNN.
Another source explained, "This isn't just about 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.' It's about all of ABC and all of the shows and all employees."
Moreover, a tipster shared with the outlet that Kimmel was planning on addressing the backlash he was facing regarding his monologues on Wednesday's show, which ultimately did not air.
They also admitted that the network is hoping to bring Kimmel back when the tension goes down.
"Everyone deeply values him and wants him to come back. But he has to take down the temperature."
Notably, Jimmy Kimmel has not yet addressed the suspension of his show publicly, while President Donald Trump has celebrated the decision, sharing that networks who give him bad publicity "maybe" should have their licence "taken away".
