Chinese AI company DeepSeek has officially introduced its V4 Pro model as it works to secure its spot on the top in the fledgling field of artificial intelligence (AI) that continues to dominate in the tech landscape.
As per the company, its recently launched V4-Pro-0813 model brings some significant upgrades to its AI agent capabilities.
Availability
Currently, it is accessible via DeepSeek’s API, app and website, expanding its access to both developers and regular users.
Moreover, DeepSeek is raising API prices for its V4 Pro and V4 Flash models. The company plans to use different rates during peak and off-peak periods.
V4 Pro faces strong competition
The significant release follows the launch of the company’s cheaper V4 Flash model that performed better than an April preview of V4 Pro in several independent tests.
This was unexpected because the Pro variant is particularly designed to provide promising results.
The final V4 Pro release will therefore be closely watched to see how much DeepSeek has improved the model since its earlier preview.
DeepSeek became a major name in AI after its R1 model, which garnered significant attention in early 2025.
Its rise raised questions about whether advanced AI models could be developed at a lower cost than those created by major US companies.
Company expands investment and hiring
DeepSeek is currently in the race with several other Chinese AI firms including Moonshot AI, Zhipu AI, MiniMax, Alibaba and ByteDance, aiming to outdo each other with the cutting-edge technology.
Moreover, the company is raising spending as it tries to turn its popularity into a long-term business.
Notably, the Chinese AI-firm is seemingly planning to at least double its workforce, while diversifying data-center and AI-agent teams. Another report suggested DeepSeek is hiring chip-design engineers to develop its own AI chips and reduce reliance on suppliers such as Nvidia and Huawei.
