Busy Philipps has opened up about her shocking diagnosis in an emotional statement.

In an interview with People, the Made of Honour actress revealed she was diagnosed with a rare malignant brain tumour and underwent two brain surgeries during the "weirdest six months of her life."

Recalling her appointment with her doctor, Philipps shared she asked two questions: one, how soon could she get to work after she recovered? And two: could the doctor give her a brow lift at the same time he cut the mass from her frontal lobe?

"He laughed, and he told me no. I was like . . . ‘You should start to think about offering that," before telling the 47-year-old "knowledge is power."

The January appointment, however, was pushed to February — and she considered cancelling before her ex-husband, Marc Silverstein, convinced her otherwise.

Now, in her extended interview, Philipps remarked, "I didn’t know why I wanted to get this scan except for the fact that I just did," as she did not present any obvious symptoms of having a tumour, such as seizures.

For those new to the room, the New York City-based actress, scheduled her scan for January, but a blizzard forced her to push the appointment to February 12th.

Busy Philipps was diagnosed with a rare, slow-growing malignant brain tumour known as a grade 2 oligodendroglioma.

The 2.6-centimetre mass was discovered in February after she underwent a full-body Prenuvo scan, despite having no prior symptoms.

While classified as malignant due to its ability to regrow over time, her doctors noted it has one of the most favourable prognoses among malignant gliomas.

Busy Philipps and James Van Der Beek share the screen in which project?

Busy Philipps revealed her diagnosis after the passing of her Dawson's Creek co-star, James Van Der Beek's death, who was also died after his battle with cancer.

She subsequently underwent surgery to remove the tumour, followed by a second procedure to address a post-surgical infection.
