Verizon has officially announced that it will charge $10 per month for Apple’s new iPhone Handoff feature. The functionality, introduced in iOS 27, allows users to seamlessly share a single phone number across two active iPhones.
This capability lets subscribers toggle active cellular status between devices – such as using a compact iPhone Duo on the go and switching to an iPhone 19 Pro for work – without swapping physical SIM cards.
Pricing comparison
At $10 a month ($120 per year), Verizon’s pricing is double the $5 monthly charge levied by rival carrier T-Mobile for the exact same service. Meanwhile, AT&T has signaled no immediate plans to adopt the dual-device feature.
Despite the price premium, Verizon promises subscribers full access to its 5G network on both devices, though only one handset can hold active cellular connectivity at any given time.
Launch timeline
While Verizon confirmed the pricing structure alongside its pre-orders for the new iPhone Duo, it listed the feature status as “coming soon” rather than offering an exact launch date.
Setup will require both handsets to run iOS 27, connect to the same Apple Account and utilize eSIM activation. Users should note that deleting an eSIM does not automatically cancel the monthly charge, requiring direct carrier cancellation.
