
Pakistani cricket team captain Babar Azam revealed his post match conversation with Virat Kohli and his experience of playing in India for the first time during the World Cup 2023.
In a recent podcast on Zalmi TV, Azam opened up about the post-match conversations he has with the Indian batsman Virat Kohli.
“I always try and talk to him whenever we play against each other. I always ask him a few questions and he helps me with them," told Azam.
He furthered noted, "Not only him, I also talk a lot to Steve Smith and Kane Williamson, when we play against Australia and New Zealand, respectively. I had a good chat with Virat Kohli."
Babar Azam also called the welcome at Hyderabad airport "outstanding" and expressed that he was "not expecting" the chants of his name in India.
The Pakistani skipper said, “I was not expecting it at all. It was my first time in India and I had no knowledge about the country. I have spoken to people about the playing conditions and all but the welcome we’re given at Hyderabad airport was outstanding.”
Azam recalled Indian fans' support throughout the World Cup, “It was a different experience. It was their love; Indian people gave us so much love, and they appreciated our cricket. We received exceptional support as well. Even in our practice games, people were cheering for us.”
Talking about the match against India he mentioned, “The entire stadium in Hyderabad was jam-packed. The entire stadium was blue. It was a different vibe.”
