Obesity is a significant risk to various health concerns. A recent study reveals that apart from cardiovascular, diabetes, cholesterol, sleep apnea, obesity is also linked with a higher risk of cancer.

As per Times Now, the study published in the National Library of Medicine revealed that obesity has been linked to many common cancers like breast, colorectal, esophageal, kidney, gallbladder, uterine, pancreatic, and liver cancer.

Moreover, obesity also raises the risk of dying from cancer. Around 4-8 percent of all cancers are linked to obesity.

The connection between obesity and cancer is complex. Not only does obesity increase the risk of developing cancer, but it may also amplify the chances of cancer reoccurrence and mortality among survivors.

Addition to this, obesity characterized by an excess buildup of body fat, is a complex condition influenced by genetic, environmental, and behavioral factors.

Over the past few decades, its occurrence has risen on a global scale, reaching epidemic levels.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that over 650 million adults were obese in 2016, and this figure is expected to increase substantially by 2030 if the current situation continues.

However, adopting a healthy lifestyle, such as maintaining a balanced diet, staying physically active for at least 150 minutes per week, and abstaining from all forms of tobacco, may reduce cancer risk.
