Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Pakistan on Monday, April 22, on a three-day official visit.

According to the Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan, Housing Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mudassir Tipu, received the Iranian President at the Islamabad airport.

FO informed, “The Iranian president is accompanied by his spouse and a high-level delegation comprising the foreign minister and other members of the cabinet and senior officials.”

Iran Republic News Agency (IRNA) said that Raisi is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari.

IRNA added, “President Raisi will visit several Pakistani cities to meet with a number of ulema, elites and business persons there. A visit to Lahore, the cultural heart of Pakistan, is also among the President’s plans.”

Later, the Iranian President was received by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at Prime Minister House, where he was presented with a guard of honour.

Radio Pakistan announced that Raisi and Sharif will also plant a sapling in the PM house on the occasion of Earth Day.

Moreover, they will also attend a memorandum of understanding signing ceremony for corporations in various fields.

As per Radio Pakistan, “The two leaders will participate in a ceremony regarding naming a highway in Islamabad as Iran Avenue. They will also hold a press talk.”
