Google is reportedly developing a YouTube Music extension for Gemini that may allow users to quickly search and play their favourite music and discover new songs.

According to a recent report by Android Authority, the feature was initially discovered by Android enthusiast Assemble Debug. They were able to activate the YouTube Music extension within the Google app v15.17.28.29.arm64.

Once enabled, the YouTube Music extension on Gemini allows users to search for and play their favourite songs and playlists.

Additionally, users can discover new music and even listen to radio stations based on their mood.

While, Gemini utilizes data such as playlists, playback history, and preferences from users YouTube Music accounts.

Visible on Gemini's Extension page, the YouTube Music extension also provides results from YouTube and directs users to the YouTube Music app when tapping on a search result.

In case the app is not installed on the device, Gemini will open a web version of the music service.

Although the functionality is not yet active in Google Gemini, the report suggests that Google is planning to release the extension soon.

Notably, Google's AI chatbot already offers various useful extensions like Flights, Maps, YouTube, and Hotels.

Additionally, Google appears to be developing new shortcuts for Gemini, including options to switch back to Google Assistant quickly, deactivate Gemini Advanced, and toggle "Live prompts."
