The UK could experience its hottest day of the year this weekend, with temperatures predicted to soar to 26°C, according to the Met Office.

As per inews, Friday is expected to be warm and dry across most areas, with temperatures reaching up to 24°C in southern England.

Meanwhile, Northern Scotland may see highs between 16-20°C. Parts of northern England and Wales will be warm but cloudy, with temperatures around 22°C.

On Saturday, the Met Office forecasts hot and dry weather across much of the country.

While, the previous hottest day of the year was recorded at 21.8°C in Writtle, Essex, in April.

Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said Saturday will be "another fine day" for many, with temperatures possibly hitting 25 or 26°C. London, Cardiff, and Birmingham are expected to see the warmest weather.

However, Sunday morning will start warm, with London reaching 25°C, but clouds will move in later in the day in the west and southwest of England. Wales, Scotland, and northwest England may experience scattered showers and thunder in the evening.

Additionally, Liam Eslick from the Met Office explained that the warm temperatures are attributed to a high-pressure system settling over the UK,bringing warm and sunny weather.

While, cooler temperatures and unsettled weather are expected next week, with rain and showers moving in from the West.

Pollen levels may increase to moderate to high levels over the next five days due to the warmer weather.

Moreover, the warm weekend is part of a natural variation in weather, though it could become more common in the future due to climate change.
