Pakistan men’s cricket team captain Babar Azam equaled Indian cricketer Virat Kohli’s world record of scoring most 50+ scores in the T20Is on Friday, May 10.

During the first T20I of the ongoing three-match series between Pakistan and Ireland in Dublin, Babar achieved his 35th half-century in T20Is, marking his 38th 50-plus score overall, matching Kohli's tally.

Kohli, the former captain of India, has also secured 38 50-plus scores in the 117 T20Is he has played. He has one century and 37 half-centuries for India.

On the other hand, Babar has hit three centuries and 35 fifties for Pakistan in his 115 T20I matches.

However, this landmark half-century also made Babar the youngest and fastest player to reach 100 fifty-plus scores in cricket history.

The match against Ireland was his 296th T20 match overall, and he has 11 centuries and 89 fifties to his name now.

Despite this achievement, Babar trails behind David Warner (110), Chris Gayle (110), and Kohli (105) in terms of total fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket.

However, he joins Gayle, Warner, and Kohli as one of only four players to achieve the milestone of scoring 100 fifty-plus scores in T20s.

Moreover, the win on Friday was the first time in history that Pakistan lost a T20I match against the Irish team,

This setback raises questions about Pakistan's readiness for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, especially with a crucial match against India scheduled for June 9 in New York.
