Venezuela's election results became controversial after both the government and the option claimed victory on Monday, July 29.

According to Reuters, the US and other foreign countries have cast their doubts on the official results that declared President Nicolas Maduro victorious.

The national electoral authority of the country announced after midnight that Maduro had won a third term with 51% of the vote, whereas the independent exit polls declared a big win for the opposition, Edmundo Gonzalez.

After the disputed vote results, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken asserted that Washington has ‘serious concerns’ that the official results do not reflect the votes of the people.

Moreover, Argentine President Javier Milei called the official election result a fraud, and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares demanded the details of all polling stations.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Nicolas Maduro on winning the dispute.

As per the Kremlin, Putin said to Maduro, “Russian-Venezuelan relations have the character of a strategic partnership. I am confident that your activities at the head of state will continue to contribute to their progressive development in all directions,” adding, “I would like to confirm our readiness to continue our constructive joint work on topical issues on the bilateral and international agenda."
